Client view #18: Pawel Dolega
At ETFmatic we have the pleasure of serving clients in 32 European countries. We see this as an incredible advantage being able to interact with such a large and diverse group of people from all walks of life. As our aim is to democratise finance for all Europeans we ask our clients if they would be willing answer questions on their experience and initial decision to use ETFmatic. The post below is part of an ongoing series where we share the experiences some of the amazing clients we serve today.
How long have you been investing for?
Around 10-13 years.
Describe your investment goals. Are they long-term, short-term, are you on track? Have you changed your investment strategy over the years? If so, how?
I have definitely long term investment goals. In my mindset what I call short-term goals is a time frame of around 10 years. Generally I my thinking in terms of decades.
I have definitely changed my investment strategy over the years. Initially (e.g. 10 years ago) I was very much into active investment, searching for short term opportunities and generally beating the market.
These days I am focusing mostly on long-term view, solid diversification and a baseline of average interest of 8-10% over long periods of time.
Why did you decide to use ETFmatic?
It fits perfectly into my long term strategy where dividend reinvestment or portfolio rebalancing really makes a difference. Truth be told - initially I wasn’t convinced (e.g. about ETFmatic credibility etc). However being a Polish citizen didn’t leave me with much of a choice when it comes to robo-advisors (you can count those available for Polish citizens on fingers of your one hand).
That said - I am now very happy with ETFmatic platform and I am convinced it was a good choice.
Can you provide a brief overview of your experience so far - How much are you investing, how long for, and how satisfied are you with returns to date?
I am basically not inclined to share my investment information on that level. What I can say however is that I keep ETFmatic account (in both USD / EUR) as significant part of my diversified portfolio strategy. I have started somewhere in 1st quarter of 2017.
How comfortable are you with using a robo-advice platform, how does it compare with your investing experience prior?
Hard to compare - I haven't used a robo-advice platform before. Having read about platforms like Betterment or WealthFront, I was quite prepared for ETFmatic; basically I knew roughly what to expect.
For long term investors who are not crazy about checking their portfolio value every other day, I believe ETFmatic is very good option. Much more convenient than e.g. traditional brokerage account.
